1st National League

Since 2017, Sky must share the broadcasting rights of the German football league: with the public broadcasters, with Eurosport – and more recently with DAZN. At first, the sports streaming provider DAZN only broadcast Bundesliga summaries and no live matches, so that changes now for the 2019/20 season. DAZN takes over all games of Eurosport. In addition to the Friday game at 20.30, these are also the rare Monday games and Sunday games, which are already kicked off at 13.30. In addition, the provider will also transfer all relegation games between the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga at the end of the season. Eurosport ceded the rights that the station had bought until 2021 early. This results in the following transfers:

Friday

As already mentioned, starting with the 2019/20 season, all rights to the Friday games are reserved for DAZN. The provider works with Eurosport to continue to show Bundesliga offers to users of Eurosport Players. In addition, the ZDF broadcasts three games of the season on Friday: The opening match on 16 August between FC Bayern Mnchen and Hertha BSC, the conclusion of the first round on Matchday 17 and then the opening of the second half on Matchday 18.

Sunday

As on the previous day, Sky is transferring all games – except for the five games, which will be staged at 13:30 throughout the season. These and highlight clips of all games are available at DAZN. In the morning, Sport1 summarizes all games on Friday and Saturday, in the evening there is a summary of the Sunday games in the ARD.

Monday

All five assembly games distributed over the season will be broadcast by DAZN. A summary of all matches will be played at 22:15 pm on RTL Nitro.

What is DAZN – and is there also Bundesliga?

2nd Bundesliga

Sky transmits all games of the 2nd Bundesliga on pay-TV. Clips of all highlights can be seen on DAZN 40 minutes after the final whistle, as in the first Bundesliga. Other highlight videos show Sky and Sport1 on Fridays and Sundays on their free-to-air channels. The public-law shows in the ARD and ZDF summaries, as well as RTL Nitro on Monday evening.

Champions League

Since the season 2018/19 Sky shares the broadcasting rights of the Champions League with DAZN. 34 individual games and all conferences will be available next season at Sky and 104 of the total 125 games at DAZN. Should a German club make it into the grand finale, the broadcasting contract stipulates that the final also has to be on free TV. Although Sky transmits fewer games, it is often the cream pieces, such as the return matches of the knockout phase and many games of German teams.

Primera Divisin (“La liga”)

The transmission rights for the Spanish football upper class are also for the upcoming 2019/20 season at DAZN. The contract was extended for another three years in 2018; the transmission at DAZN is unlikely to change until 2021. The games are all live streamed, but there are only the top games with German commentator. All other games are commented in English.

Premier League

The rights for the First English Football League, Sky has retrieved for the 2019/20 season by DAZN. Thus, 232 games live on Sky pay-TV. The remaining 148 games are also time to see Sky.
