The German circus Roncalli writes with its new show circus history: For the first time he leaves a hologram in the ring – instead of a real elephant. According to Science and Space, Roncalli uses an advanced set of projectors and lasers to project full size holographic animals. With this new technology, creative storytelling can be taken to the next level.
Bring the wildlife home
Google is now taking a similarly visionary step. In the future, Google Search will display 3D models of animals (such as elephants, wolves, tigers or sharks). With the Google ARCore technology, the selected model can be brought directly into your own living room.
All you have to do is enter the corresponding animal in the Google search, then you will find a corresponding button for displaying the 3D model.
Now it’s your turn. Meet life sized animals close up. We launched today on iOS (Safari) and Android (with ARCore installed). I love the 🐅, 🦈 and 🐧. Many more animals to discover on your own as well! pic.twitter.com/VfBUsXFBQ4

So far, the new service has been released only for the US, so the feature is not available everywhere and to every user. According to our tests, it works in this country on iOS, provided that the augmented reality feature of the mobile device has been activated and the language setting of the Google search is set to “English”. However, Android users still have to be patient.
In the above video you get a small taste of the function. TECHBOOK shows with which settings the new feature can be used before starting in Germany:
- Open a browser of your choice.
- Search Google for any search term.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Settings.
- Touch Search Settings.
- Then tap on “Add another language”.
- Activate the option “English”.
- Touch “Save”.
- Confirm the message with “Ok”.
- Search for an animal in Google Search (for example, Tiger, Wolf, Shark, Cat, Dog, Panda) and scroll down to the bottom of the results page.
- Now switch to “English” in the search results. This option can be found at the bottom of the page.
- Then tap the “View in 3D” entry on the English search page.
In addition, we recommend that you install the “Google ARCore” app so that the animals can also be viewed directly in AR mode.
